Perl Modules
Install and remove CPAN modules for your own Perl scripts, in the perl5 folder of your home folder.
Perl Modules installs modules from CPAN for your own Perl scripts. They go into perl5 in your home folder and are
installed as your hosting account, so they are yours alone and do not change anything else on the server.
Install a module
- In the panel, open Software → Perl Modules.
- Under Install a Module, enter the Module name, such as
Text::CSV. Use the module's name only, not a file, a web address or a version. - Click Install.
Building a module can take a few minutes, so it runs in the background: a strip at the top of the page says In progress… and you can keep working. Modules it depends on are installed with it and appear in the list too. If it fails, the strip says why and offers Try again.
Modules that need a compiler or a system library may not install.
Use a module in your script
Put this line at the top of your script, before the use lines of the modules you installed:
use lib "$ENV{HOME}/perl5/lib/perl5";
Remove a module
- Find the module under Installed modules.
- Click Remove and confirm.
Common errors
| Message | Why | What to do |

| Write a module name like Text::CSV. | The name has characters a module name cannot have, such as spaces, dashes or slashes. | Enter the name exactly as CPAN lists it, with :: between its parts. |
| The server could not read the data it was given. | The module could not be installed. It may not exist, or it may need a compiler or a system library. | Check the name. If it is right, ask support whether the module can be installed on your server. |
| Text::CSV is not installed. | The module was already removed, for example in another tab. | Reload the page. |
| That item does not exist. | The server could not remove the module. | Reload the page. If it is still listed, send the message to support as written. |
