Inodes Usage
See how many files and folders each folder of your hosting account holds, and find folders full of small files.
Every file and every folder on the server uses one inode. Inodes Usage counts them folder by folder, most first, so a folder with thousands of small files stands out even when it uses little disk space. Caches, session files and mail are the usual cause. Many small files can slow backups down.
Inodes Usage works like Disk Usage, but counts files and folders instead of measuring their size.
Find folders with many files
- In the panel, open Files → Inodes Usage.
- The line above the list shows how many files and folders the current folder holds in total.
- Each entry shows its Inodes count, a bar and its share of the current folder, highest first.
- Click a folder's name to open it. Keep going until you reach the folder that holds the files.
- Use the path above the list to go back. Home is your home directory.

Clear out what you find
Inodes Usage only counts. Once you know the folder, decide whether its files are still needed. A cache folder can usually be emptied from the application that made it (for example a caching plugin's own "clear cache" option). To delete files yourself, use the File Manager.
